Interfaith Shelter Network
Hope Lutheran Church San Diego participates annually in the Interfaith Shelter program providing overnight hosts and hot evening meals for the shelter. Interfaith Shelter Network is a volunteer organization that works with churches to provide temporary shelter and meals for those individuals and families that find themselves without housing. The Shelter works with those that are alcohol and drug free and are in the process of finding work or have a job but need help finding permanent housing. Africa Empowering Children Organization
The mission of the Africa Empowering Children (AEC) Organization near Nairobi, Kenya is to provide a stable foundation that is rooted in education and health care for orphaned, vulnerable, deprived and destitute children who have lost their own family. We provide a loving and safe, family environment that enables children the right to be happy, educated, skilled and lead a healthy life.
Their aims and objectives include:
- Provide love, food, shelter, clothing, education, safe drinking water, medical care and career opportunities to orphaned, deprived and destitute children.
- Help cut down the number of street children in the Kenyan society.
- Reduce HIV/AIDS related cases, through education and prevention.
- Improve access to education for underprivileged children, by creating a sponsorship program.
- Help children who are not academically inclined to acquire technical skills, which will allow them to support themselves in the future.
- Continue the close working relationship with Government Rescue Centers and Children’s Homes in order to help provide the local community with the fundamentals needed in their society.
Bayside Community Center
Bayside Community Center is an independent, neighborhood-based, non-profit organization with a mission to empower our diverse community to improve its quality of life through services, education, and advocacy. Having opened in 1932 in Little Italy before relocating to City Heights and eventually the heart of Linda Vista at 2202 Comstock Street, Bayside has served San Diegans for more than nine decades.
